A high speed 8 bit system with nicer graphics would be great to see.
Higher resolutions could make it more atractive.

look at www.parallax.com ,it has an 8 core MCU called the propeller.

I believe it is $12.95 US for a 40 pin chip.
There is also QFN and QFP types as well.
