AMIGE 4000 IDE
« on: June 22, 2004, 11:23:00 AM »
DOES ANYONE USE THE IDE CONTROLLER THAT IS ON THE MOTHER BOARD OF THE AMIGA-4000 FOR THEIR CD-RW DRIVE? IF NOT, WHY NOT?
IS THIS THING USELESS?

Hi:

Sorry abt yelling.  I am new at this and don't know the ropes yet.

If you are using the amiga 4000 ide mother board controller, what software do u use to get to the cd-rw?
I thought I knew something about the amiga but I am learning, that is not true.

The software of the operating sys. does not see anything on it's ide port.

Do u use make cd, or some other software?

help!

BJ

Hi HotRod:

The OS is 3.9. One of the problems I am having is I don't have the manual for the A4000.  The guy I got this Amiga from threw it away, as he was getting rid of a lot of stuff and said he just thought he didn't need it anymore!!!

I have a new 52x24x52 CD-RW from I/OMagic. Do u think it would work?

IF u use the A4000, do u have the manual?  I would be glad to pay u for a copy of the hard drive section of that manual.  The computer doesn't see an IDE hard drive either.  I am use to working with GVP SCSI controllers and software.  It seems that that stuff just works and I don't have any trouble.

I have downloaded MakeCD and Fryingpan, but have not authorized them yet.

Thanks for the info.

BJ

Hi Ciao:

I have not tried to install this CD-RW yet, will try this week end.  The last time I tried to put an IDE hard drive in, the Amiga could not see it on the buss. Do u have to manually insert the information?  Ya know, like the old 2000's use to do with MFM controllers. blocks, heads, and sectors?

I guess I'll just have to keep working with this thing like I did when I set up the TCP-IP to link my Amiga to my PC and MAC. Boy was that a job!!!

thanks for the info.
