I agree, everything in AU is a pain in the a$$ to get. You want to live in the country (esp. with our old and mutual friend normie closing down :P)

The DC-KF500.lha package is the guide on putting flashes into an A500.

Not exactly true.

www.futurelec.com based on the NSW Central coast keeps all kinds of esoteric flash chips.

I'm planning on updating my DC-KF500 package at some point soon with A1200/A4000 circuits.
Just ordered a couple of SMD 2MB 16bit wide flash chips from Futurelec to play with.

Will be able to hold a few KS images which can be swtich selectable.

Cheers,

Don't flash chips usually work at 3.3 Volts?

Some do, some don't.

generally the designations 29F denote 5V operation,
while 29LV denotes 3.3V operation.

Most flash manufacturers have PDF docs on their sites.
www.amd.com springs to mind.

Futurlec is excellent for getting hard to find parts. I ordered some things from them a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully I'll be getting them soon.
Not sure, but i thought that www.futurlec.com.au gave prices in AUD, and www.futurlec.com gave them in USD.

I must have missed the flash roms that you mentioned.

Hi Generale,
I wasn't aware of the futurlec AU site.

Strangely the product range is not identical on each site.
On the Flash chip page for example, 29F400, 29F800 are missing on the AU site.
Both of these chips are perfect for using as KS replacements, using an SMD-DIP adapter.

I've ordered 4 of the 29F016 chips (2MBx8), plus a few 29F800's from the non-AU site to play with.

Cheers,
