The  Argh Mac's! Thread continues ... PEACE!

Oki doki,

I got linked to this board from the ThinkSecret forum.
Hey AmigaWun - don't worry!

Trouble is the domain we live in!

I remember myself when I bought my first car ... how happy I had been - until my brother, my uncle, my grandpa, my mother ... everybody decided to get a lift with me. Constantly my (damn old) piece of #### of a car would break down (probably under the heavy load of trips I had to take). So it needed fixing constantly - the electronics parts in particular for some odd reason.

One day my dad came around asking my a weird question about his 1/2 year old BMW regarding the INSPECTION indicator in the car and how to make this dumb light disappear. I tried my best and 2 weeks later he had more issues than before with half his gear in the car - the damn light would still be on though.
Bringing the car to inspection was no option - would have cost 140 bucks or so.

So we kept trying and trying. I ended up clipping away a tiny cable - hey: that fixed it (though at the time I felt like being part of a Mission Impossible movie - a red and a blue wire - which one?).

Months later I had a chat with a good friend of mine who was a BMW DUDE! He'd never driven any other kind of car. I told him the story and he loughed his guts out! Later he explained to me that there is a very obvious little Battery on the top of the unit and the manual would clearly indicate how to remove it (in the scenario one doesn't wish to go for inspection but yet wants to get rid of the annoying light). I felt like ... stupid ... only word to say.

See any similarities.

Well - I am in fact a Mac user since 1986 and as funny as your storry might seem to ANY curretn Mac user ... I do feel with you. Previously I had all kinds of computers: Sinclair, VC20, C-64, Atari ST, Amige 500, IBM-comp. 386, and 486 and PentiumI - then came my first Apple Performa 6400. It took me some 2 weeks to get adjusted ... to interiors and extiriors ... by now I'd say I'm a crack on the Mac.

I do actually believe things are made very very simple by Apple. But without the manual ... no way!

Even recently I wanted to change a CD-RW on a PowerMac G4 ... believe me or not: it took me 2 hours since I didn't have the manual just to figure out it is actually a 2-minute procedure (well i figured after having finsihed the job, of course).

So ... one more time: don't worry. It's not a matter of you being stupid, the Mac community being all so wise, or PC, Amige, Atari users being full on Bob The Builders etc.

It's a matter of having read TFM.
Cheers, Over and Out,
Franky

hey unclewilli-amigalover,

they (the cars) don't come with wires anymore  :-?
but with an iPod 40GB.

BTW: ever opened (or have seen one) a G5? No? Then hurry up - hardly any wires to cut either. :-)

And one more thing: X is greater then IV (4)! Something to think about (and smiles).
