In fact, today I filmed an event for 8 hours, standing up for 99% of the time, just a couple of minutes every so often to have a sip of iced tea, no bathroom break, no meal break.  I'm a bit sore for standing up so long (and I'm sure I'll pay for it tomorrow).

Robert have you considered using a tripod? It shouldn't be necessary for you to shoot like that...
