Piru

Thanks for the technical explanation. I guess the fanboys that DONT have overlay needed this. I found some of the comments about not having it being ok to be funny. Overlay makes a big difference in many practical ways that affect all users.

Dont know if this is really a "news" item but glad for the clarification to stop silly additional  posts

Its not about "Sides" its about facts. Kind of funny you would take sides against guys like PIru and Itix ( man I wish Frank M posted here) I mean Piru has only been coding for amiga for 15 years, no big deal.

Whats humours is that you arent even considering the science behind it, as explained by many in all these threads. Instead you are taking fanboy sides..

Anyhow, it will be some time before we will see how it performs. Meanwhile anyone wanting to play videos on low-end systems such as SAM460 with Radeon HD are out of luck.

Quite true and that is teh sukcage.

"upgrade to Radeon 9200" lulz

Dont get me wrong I dont mean to make fun I feel bad for Sam users. Whats weird is that the Sam platform is THE mainstream platform for os4. These systems need drivers how long has it been now? I mean to pay $1500 for a box and have stuttering audio and bad video playback is not cool. Not to mention that whole silly 1 Sata port business.

Well at least X1000 is a nice platform for OS4, too bad it cost more than some people's cars!

I'm lucky because my Peg2 box with Radeon 9000 Pro II board has overlay support in OS4 and Morphos.

I have to say you are giving a very nice technical argument for overlay not important going forward, however you are missing the main thrust of this whole argument is that CURRENT OS4 SAM users will NOT have proper video playback for a long time due to lack of overlay.

So, for Sam, A1, and Peg2 OS4 users Overlay is far from Obselete. Actually its Critical.

cough cough, strange indeed as the same people show up on every OS4.x related thread as well.  Must be a strange fascination with new hardware or perhaps they are true AmigaOS4.x fans:razz:

Well dont know how you are referring to as I run os4 on my peg2. And if you are referring to Piru than you are quite silly as he is quite an "expert"
