My Mk2 fits fine also.  No mods to the drive platform (yet).

There is no 5.25" bay in the A3000, making additional cooling a bit of a challenge.  Also the drive platform creates a good seal leaving a pocket of hot air where the CPU fast slot is.  That said, I never had a problem with my 040/35MHz (CPU fan only, no heatsync).
