This is incorrect. With appropriate drivers (ie. IDEFix/IDEMax, or the OS3.5+ SCSI.DEVICE) you can use ATAPI devices. I have a DVD/CD-RW and 250MB ZIP, both ATAPI, on my A4000 IDE.
