The legality of such an "ultimate" Amiga is questionable, not to mention the 7500 MAME roms.  I'd suggest people still buy an Amiga rather than pirating what's left.  (Legaly released stuff aside). :ranting:

@Catherder

I was responding to your numbers (so if they smell fishy, it's quoted from you).  MAME doesn't emulate 7500 games, nor are there 7500 legally released romsets for it.  Just because you can find them on the net doesn't make them legal.  As for the Amiga and other emulators, to use them legally you'd need to own the original computer/console/game anyway.  So the advantage shrinks tremendously.

Keep telling yourself that...

From the official MAME website:

The current version supports 5248 ROM sets, 2946 unique games.

From the MAMEoX 0.84.b3 readme:

Current Ver supports 5061 ROM sets, 2851 unique games.

Here, I've shown you the facts.  Now show me where to download 7500 free games.

I wouldn't expect this from a moderator.  You should be ashamed.  Piracy is piracy no matter how much you think it doesn't hurt.

BTW, BTTR gets permission to release the games that they have.  Just like ALE, etc.

@Holly

Get Halo 2.  I just got it yesterday and it's great.  I might have to sign up for Xbox Live now to try the multiplayer.  (There are games on XBLink, etc. but I've heard the Live scene is better).

@All

I wasn't commenting on just Amiga piracy, but the piracy of arcade game roms, ie. MAME roms.  There are few good games worth playing that aren't under copyright (ie. anything Capcom, Sega, Midway, Nintendo, etc.).

This isn't a question of morality, it's a question of legality.  And, while I do agree that a moderator should not be busy "policing" this stuff.  I feel they shouldn't openly support it.

Linux kits for the PS2 are NLA.   Emulators exist, but are not as advanced as the ones for Xbox.  (largely due to the fact that the Xbox is PC based.)

Can I emulate the Amiga now sir? Can I? Pretty please?

I never said you couldn't. I simply commented on the legality of what you were suggesting.  I'd still recommend a real Amiga over an emulator.

Nice pics of your stockpile.

And thanks for admitting you were wrong about the MAME roms.
