Cybervision 64/3D on its way! Now what?
« on: September 23, 2003, 01:35:58 PM »
Following the recent purchase of my Amiga 4000, and all the fantastic help I received which has given me a now batteryless, SCSI working, lovely machine - i've been able to source a graphics card.

This is namely a Cybervision 64/3D card.

I suppose my first question is - could this cause me any problems with my Rev. 9 Buster?

Secondly, i've heard about the CyberGFX software. What advantages would this give me and is it worth the investment over the standard drivers?

Thirdly - i've seen Scandoubler add-ons for the CV64/3D - should I try to source one of these or simply save up for one of the internal Eyetech models?

Fourthly - anything else I should be aware of with the Cybervision?

Fifthly - three weeks ago my Amiga usage was a bare motherboard in a DVD box and a jerry-rigged powersupply. Now i'm starting to get together a KICK-ASS machine :)!!! Sorry.

One of the cool things that you now get with your graphics card is the option to get better SOUND out of Paula, via AHI, so you can play mp3's in 14 bit and 44100 hz (upto 56 khz), which sounds pretty good..but the latest version of cGX v4.2 rev 11 has a bug in it which will only allow you to open a pal/ntsc screen once only if you choos a 56kHZ sound option., but you can get aruond this
the cV64/3d has a built-in primitive 3d function which has some use for showing video eg mpeg in a window

These sound like interesting features. Are the added sounds and mpeg features available from within the CybergraphX software or do I need some extra freeware?
