Just received my Spider II USB 2.0 and...
« on: January 27, 2004, 04:33:58 AM »
It seems to not like my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical.

I've installed Poseidon stack and spider.device according to Elbox's instructions, and the mouse works just fine for about a few minutes, and then it freezes. The system doesn't crash or anything, but the mouse doesn't react anymore on movement. If I try using the standard Amiga mouse, it works fine. If I try to unplug the USB mouse then plug it back in, it works again for a few minutes, then stops. When USB mouse freezes, Amiga mouse can continue to work from that point just fine.

I suspect that Spider doesn't like this mouse. So what do you all think? Should I go and get a Logitech Optical mouse or something non-Microsoft, or is there anything else to this problem?

Thanks.

I have no problems about registering Poseidon stack. I totally understand the time and effort which were invested in its development, however, I must be sure that I will get a working setup and not the same mouse error, if I buy the stack user license.

Does Chris browse A.org? I guess I'll have to e-mail him and ask.

The Poseidon stack (downloaded from the official homepage) says in its docs that Spider users need not to register. Why am I getting the timeout limit then, if that is actually the problem?

Once again, my problem is not paying, I can and will do that, but knowing that everything would work OK afterwards.

@lempkee:

I've e-mailed Chris about registering. You are probably right about this. It's most likely the time limit kicking in, after a few minutes of usage.

Here is the part from PoseidonMain.lha archive, Registration.txt file about not needing to register which confused me on this issue:

ATTENTION: Users of the Highway, Subway and Algor boards  do  NOT  need  to
register!

I must have confused Subway with Spider when reading. :-) You were right, it doesn't mention any free usage for Spider users.

@lempkee:

I'm at work now so I will try it and let you know once I get back home. I have a feeling that it will work just fine, because when I unplugged and plugged the mouse back in, it was again functional for 2 minutes. Offline/Online would probably produce the same result, but I'll confirm that later tonight.

Just got an e-mail reply from Chris about this issue.

Yes, it was the time limit. :-) I need to register. ;-)
