IIRC, the reason why it can't be done is due to the following:

It's hard to solder the SCSI chip (however not impossible).
The flash chip on the card for some reason cannot be flashed with SCSI compatible firmware, but an entirely new chip with SCSI compatible firmware already flashed on it must be soldered onto the board (e.g. remove the old one and place the new one).
Other various chips and the SCSI header must be soldered onto the board.

Anyways, all as per Amiga Repair Center, so it's valid info. :-)

Sounds like a lot of work. Probably the easiest thing to do would be do get a dead BPPC with SCSI and use the parts on the good, non SCSI PPC card.
