GVP G-Force 030 rev. 3 SCSI termination question
« on: November 30, 2005, 08:41:59 PM »
IIUC, rev. 3 G-force 030 cards for A2000 have on-board passive termination in the form of soldered resistor packs. Rev. 4 board have these resistor packs socketed, so installing active termination instead is very easy, as you can simply take out the resistor packs and use separate active terminators.

These resistor packs seem to be marked as RP14 and RP15. Can anyone confirm that by simply desoldering these two parts from rev. 3 boards, the same effect would be accomplished as with rev. 4 boards (e.g. no more passive termination)?

I was suprised to find zero info on this matter by searching through Google Usenet archives. :-?

Hi Sparky.

That's true, but I don't feel like doing any unnecessary work at all, so I figure I better ask for a 100% confirmed answer. :-)
