Amiga 4000T system on eBay. Looks to be in good condition, however untested. This always arises suspition that it may not work. I understand that not everyone has access to an Amiga monitor, however how hard it is to actually plug in a power cord and turn the system on? At least you could hear if the hard drive clicks or not, which would indicate that there's a good chance of the unit working. Is it possible that a 1000+ feedback seller of mostly computer hardware items wouldn't know this? :-)

@glitch:

So the chances of it working have just risen. :-)
However, I did once bin and won a similarily described A4000D system. The description was pretty much the same. The seller said sold as-is, there's not way to test it out, however when you turn it on, you can hear the hard drive clicking and see the hd led flashing. Fine I thought...it most likely works. It looked gorgeous from the pictures, both the internal and external parts of this A4000D. No battery leakage. So I bid on it. I won it. I received it. Hard drive clicks my ass! It turned out that what the seller thought was hard drive clicking was merely spinning on power up, and nothing more. Either that or he plain lied. :-)

After extensive tests it turned out to be a busted motherboard due to leaky audio capacitors (a nearby chip looks corroded and the audio capacitors need to be changed). It was really minor and hard to spot, this leakage, however A4000 motherboards seem very sensitive and traces easily get damaged. There could be more that's faulty with this motherboard, however those are the only visible problems.

Indeed. :-)

Too bad about the reserve price. $350 would be a good deal in case it works, but a huge loss if it doesn't.
