Cybervision 64 video card question.
« on: September 03, 2004, 07:22:39 PM »
Where can one find a suitable passthrough cable, which can be used with the input port of the CV64 card and a scan doubler? Is this just a simple VGA extension cable, only very short?

I see. :-) Thanks for the speedy reply.
So, should I expect a decrease in image quality if I use a long(ish) VGA extension cable? Is there a recommended length for the cable, or any length should do just fine?

Thanks for the input guys.
I'll try to find as short as possible cable (3 feet seems the shortest available length).

@Brian:

Do you have an online link to a store that's selling those 1' cables, by any chance? I'm just looking for the shortest possible length in order not to trip over cables. :-)

@Doobrey:

That's not a bad idea, although I think that the supplied passthrough cable is not a DB15 "male to male", which is required for the CV64 and a scan-doubler.

Another question just came to my mind.

Is it true that the highest non-interlaced 24-bit mode resolution that this card can do is 800x600? If I wanna go 1024x768 in 24-bit, it would have to be interlaced, right?

Thanks.

@Tempest:

That's the info that I needed. Thanks! :-)
I use 1024x768 16-bit non-interlaced and it works great. CybergraphX v4 here too, with the latest patch installed.
Too bad that 24-bit modes are limited to 800x600 if you want non-interlaced display, however considering the age of this technology, regardless, I bet that the card was quite a monster when it was released. :-)
