Amiga 3000 Daughterboard rev 7
« on: February 28, 2016, 04:46:18 PM »
Hello,

I got an Amiga 3000 and I am a little confused when reading on http://amiga.resource.cx/mod/a3000.html that rev 7 wasn't sold to the public. Looking in my A3k there is a rev 7, not 7/01 and the I begin to wonder if it really is a buggy rev 7 or a maybe a modified rev 7. See pic.
I have tried to use zorro-cards but when I have both x-surf 100 and Bigram+ I get all kinds of strange problems (yes I have a Buster 11) but it might be the PAL-chips or this or that... but if the daughterboard is a buggy one I have to replace it first of all with a rev 7/01.

Any suggestions?

Best,
Bent

Ok, good to know :) I was worried that my daughterboard was a buggy one.

Mostly I have trouble with scsi-read error that shows up when tha A3k has been working for a while. But the trouble I have with X-surf and BigRam is that the scsi-read-errors show up faster. I have no zip-memory, only fastram through BigRam.

But my thoughts about the daughterboard is that if I have x-surf in a slot closer to my mainboard the A3k recognize the ram but if I try to save files to my ram-disk they just disappear. If I put Bigram in a slot closer to the mainboard it ram-disk works. I have tried  all slots.

But if the daughterboard not is a faulty one then maybe the zorro-slots needs cleaning or there is something else that needs to be fixed.

In any case I have sold my x-surf with bigram to a friend who has an A3k in much better shape and my guess is that they will work perfect in his A3k :)

Best,

Bent
