I *think* it's gone... unfortunately, you can only proof the presence of bugs, not their absence... and this problem is extremely erratic (now you see me, now you don't).

But at least I can move the mouse now without freezing the machine, which is generally a good indication  :-D

No, I don't think so. At least my A4000 is a Commodore machine... built 1992... Hey, it's over ten years old ;-)

Yes. I have an Elbox tower, and the PSU blew some time ago, so I replaced it with a standard AT PSU (NOT ATX). The only problem is that you need to unsolder the PSU's connector and replace it with the one from the original PSU...  

Plus, the PSU in the desktop case is very small, you'll probably have a hard time finding one that fits...
