Hey, I've been the 1000 route. I am not entirely sorry I don't have to do it again! I remember when we would get the GURU messages we would get so angry (my father, brother and myself were the primary users). My father thought that the messages were very unprofessional and if they wanted to sell Amigas as a serious computer for the professional they should have better error messages. I just didn't like it when it crashed my games. Hey, what can I say, I was a self-preoccupied teenager. Anything that messed with that was bad.
I always like the GURU message (not that I liked it when my computer crashed but at least it crashed with character) When OS2.x came out I remember the excitement about there being "no more GURU MEDITATION ALERTS!" "Great!" I thought until I got my A3000 and found it that they were still there, they had just been renamed. :getmad: I liked the old name. It was a conversation starter, it gave me a chance to "explain the name" to people unfamiliar with the Amiga and Amiga history. I found that once people understood the origin of the name most people thought it was quite neat and wanted to find out more about this "weird" little known computer.
The real problem with GURU was not the name it was the obscure number code that came after and the name change didn't help with that. They should have kept the GURU name and changed the code to something a little more understandable to the normal user.
