HELP OS 3.5 install problems!!
« on: September 23, 2003, 01:32:33 AM »
I am trying to install OS 3.5 on my A4000D, it is not going well.  After installing 3.1, I reboot and my machine GURU's before loading work bench.  It executes the User-Startup lines and then crashes shortly after (when trying to load wb?)

It has also come up with a requestor saying that the Sys drive is not valid.

I am running an 8 gig IDE drive from the Amigas IDE controller (formatted with only two 2 gig partitions).  My CD ROM drive is a SCSI II drive controlled by my Warp Engine 040/40.

This sytem works great under 3.0, but I'd like to get it updated to 3.5.  I would greatly appreciate an help!

Thanks
SC

Hi Mike,

I don't remember how I formatted the drive.  I can't remember how execute the startup, user-startup one line at a time.

I may clean it off and start over with a freshly formatted HD and 3.0, although I would prefer not to.

I have Oldsmobiles since my first car in 1975.  My first car was a '68 Hurst Olds, really, no kidding!  I've had the 68 in my avitar for 8 years.  I picked up a 67 CS three years ago and converting it into a 442 clone.

Love those cars!

Ok, I got it going.

The AsimCDFS was causing the trouble (or more likely, the install messed it up).  So, after installing 3.1, I booted without a Startup-Sequence, then put semi-colons in front of the User-Startup lines.  3.1 would then boot to Workbench.

I reinstalled Asim CDFS version 3, removed the semi colons from the Startup-Sequence, and rebooted.  It works!  Wahoo!

Mike, I live in Arizona.  Do you still have the W-30 convertible?  If you are still into the Olds thing, go here:  http://www.realoldspower.com/

Thanks for the help guys.
