« on: October 20, 2003, 11:13:44 AM »
Hello,

I was wondering, what is the best Quake port for the PPC Amiga, as i won a Blizzard PPC! I already own the Clickboom original Quake for the 060 but i want PPC speed! :-)

Thanks for the reply guys. I tried out QuakeWos and that was a big improvement indeed, both graphics and speed. Current problem is i cant get the CD audio going, but i think i can fix this problem. If not, i'll post again! :-) Thanks again guys!

set the env variables env:quake1/cd_device and env:quake1/cd_unit according to your settings.

How would i do this?! Would i do this in the tooltypes section or a a command line in shell when starting up QuakeWos, same with the other options, ie: mem, etc.

@that_punk_guy,

Thanks very much for that information. I will try that. Is that the same for the other options?

Yeah, you'll have to do:

setenv ENV:quake1/cd_device cd.device
setenv ENVARC:quake1/cd_device cd.device

(replacing cd.device with whatever cd device you use) too. I haven't used Quake, so there might also be other options you can set this way, but I don't know about them :-)

Yeah,  but thats just for the CD device, i am on about the memory limit, etc.

Yeah. Amiga Quake players can beat up their PC, MAC or Acorn buddies AFAIK!
