I'm in a similar situation. Wondering if this scsi initiator mode thing has been tried. Seems like a quick way to get going..

PS: Also, SCSI adaptors aren't that hard to find. I have a Dell T1700 with an Adaptec in it for testing SCSI stuff before I plop them in a real machine.
