Traveler was great, you know Elite and frontier were heavily inspired by it?
We switched to Ringworld after a while -we were all reading Larry Niven.

Tried rolemaster after we had played MERP for a bit, didn't rate it much.

We used to (A)D&D to death when I was younger, D&D, then advanced v1 and 2.

Those I have round on a friday generally want to boardgame/video game :( still, my nephews still enjoy it. Running them through an old brit game called 'Dragon warriors'.

Yeah, I got the mongoose version. It's ok, nice to have it in one binding (the original was 6 paperbacks). But they missed a big chance, it's word for word the original copy, with no attempt to fix decades old problems. Your right, it does ooze atmosphere. My nephews love it :)

Like you guys, I love the BRP system, it's probably my favourite. Other stuff we got through (long time  ago for some of these...)

Call Of Cthulhu
Marvel superheroes
Star Patrol
Rifts
Judge Dredd
Vampire
Twilight 2000
Paranoia
Men in Black
WFRP   loads more as one offs (campaigns)

Risk, Space Hulk, and Necromunda. :)

3 classics right there!  -I got the new version of spacehulk a couple of years ago, some lovely miniatures in there.

@XDelusion The rules are pretty close to first edition, but with out the extra expansions (and I doubt we will get those, it was a limited run). I didn't think having pretty mini's would help the game -but after a few vodka's, having a miniature with the correct equpment shown is a real help.

I always fancied the Doom boardgame, but never got round to it. So your opinions are apreciated. I own quite a few Fantasy Flight games: decent, runebound, war of the ring, arkham horror and twilight imperium etc. But they don't get much play, set up and play time are always long, and the rules a bit complex for my pld noggin.

I wish GW would go back to board games, I loved their stuff.

Edit: Are any of you guys on boardgamegeek or rpggeek?

It's probably my fave FF game. Got , a few expansions for it as well. Bloody thing takes up half a room, and there must be at least 20 decks of cards.

It's pretty close to Call of Cthulhu, investigating clues (used to close gates, or up your roles), adjusting your different attributes (which are linked in pairs- as you put one up, the other goes down. Nice bit of strategy there).
Frequent trips to Arkham sanitarium as you go insane. Bit more fighting than CoC proper, but if the Great Old One (GOO)  wakes, you are generally screwed. There are quite a few GOO's that can come up, and they even effect the game while they are still sleeping. You have to close dimensional gates by traveling through them to seperate areas on the board. allow to many to open, or to many monsters out and the GOO wakes...
Lots of characters to choose from, shops and sites to visit. Lots of lovely (well...unlovely) monsters from Lovecraft and others.

I really recomend it, I don't get to play it half as much as i'd like!

I'll have to watch that one. I watched the fake 1920's 'call of cthulhu' a while ago, which was quite fun. They have the 'whisperer in darkness' coming out soon as well. Did you see the southpark Cthulhu episodes? they were pretty funny.
