Isn't the sourcecode available for Aweb? Might be better updating something that runs OK on classic, rather than trying to pour a quart into a pint glass.

The OS4 one uses Reaction (things will need tweaking for OS3.9, but largely it should work unaltered)

No, don't do that.  The framebuffer frontend (which is what the existing 68k port is) is not really suitable and should not be hacked around for this purpose.  The NetSurf core devs don't like it either.  Create a proper OS3/68k frontend.

If we stick with reaction, that'll make it 3.9 only won't it? Would be a start though.

If he does not hack around, will we still be able to have a chunky graphics display?  it'll probably need one on AGA.

@bernd_afa
 You've explained your point well, but AGA classic users want a new browser. Once we have a working version of Netsurf, it will probably spur classic developers to work further on it to improve it's speed (As Nova Coder has managed to do with day of the tentacle and scumm using kalms c2p etc). It's up to them if they want to give it a go. The amount of time you've spent posting negativity, you could have spent helping.

Classic users are like any other retro computer hobyists, they all own PC, mac and Linux machines, but they want to see how far they can take their old favourites. But you already know this. I'm typing this on a dual core PC, but I still get excited about a new browser on my A1200. Go figure :)

And who says 8bit would be the end, rather than the start? Shapeshifter runs on a chunky HAM8 screen....and who knows what goodies AROS might bring in the future?

@Desiv. No wonder you lost rack of the thread, there's a troll under the bridge trying to drag it off topic!
 And my 1230XA as had 32mb since the late ninties, i'm sure there are loads of classics with more ram than that.

There are 1000's of computers that run software better than my Amiga, hell most PC's are a faster Amiga than my Amiga. Most PC's/mac/linux boxes are also faster and have a much larger software range than morphOS...but you still use it don't you? My A1200 is my hobby machine of choice, I don't need to justify myself to you, as to why I want new software for it.

To steal your comment:

"there are web pads out, that cost 100 Eur, and they work faster and have better display as a MorphOS system ;)  "

As iv'e said If we get it running, it's a start. Alterations to the code base can happen from there. More coders will be willing to muck in once they see something running, the Same as happened with AROS, and I don't care if we start to wander away from the main fork either.

With attitudes like yours we would not have doom, scumm, mp3 playback etc on the classic Amiga.
