Hi guys,
I really need some help with this one :-(
I have a WarpEngine 4040, that I'm going to use in my A4k tower. I have two problems with it... first of all, half the times I'm trying to boot the A4k, then it won't boot, and second of all, when I get it to boot, then the computer only recognizes 64 MB ram even though I have put 2 x 32 and 2 x 16 on it.
The ram problem.
I downloaded the manual, using the link on
www.amiga-hardware.com, and also looked at the schematics at the page. According to this, I have installed 32 MB on slot 1, 16 MB on slot 2, 32 MB on slot 3 and the last 16 MB on slot 4, all modules single sided. This should give me a total of 96 MB ram. Unfortuanately it doesn't. I tried to set varius jumpers, but with no luck.
On JP2 I have used the following setting; jumpers on B and D, and no jumpers on the rest.
I'm not going to use SCSI devices with this card, even though it has a SCSI controller, so jumpersettings on H, J and K should all be set to off, as I can see it. Because I don't use SCSI devices, then I haven't put a jumper on JP1, which says "termination power not supplied to SCSI bus".
As I'm using this card on an A4k, then JP3 and JP4 shouldn't concern the operation of my card.
I saw a strange thing on my card. It has a jumper called JP5, but it's not mentioned neither in the manual or on the schematics from
www.amiga-hardware.com. Anyone knows what this jumper is used for?
The boot problem.
When I power up the A4k it doesn't always boot up. I checked all cables, connectors, basicly everything that is to check, but still the same. Anyone experienced the same? I guess it could be a matter of jumper settings. I sure hope so, so hopefully someone can give me the correct jumper settings for my card.
An additional question :
Is anyone using a kicktool with this card, in order to use Kickstart3.1? Which program should I use?
Thanks in advance
