Hi,

I recently bought 3 x 3Com EtherLink III cards on eBay. Their model name is 3C589C and 3C589D, so according to the guide of the 3c589 archive found on Aminet, these cards should work in my A1200.

I have installed everything needed for the board to be usable (at least I think I have); I have OS3.9 installed on my hdd, have installed the 3c589.device in DEVS:Networks and copied CardReset to C: and added C:CardReset to my User-Startup... For TCP/IP stack I use Miami Deluxe, so got that installed and MUI as well (of course)

I launched Miami and set up my ethernet card in the "Hardware" section as "Ethernet". When I press "Query device" in "SANA-II parameters" I get an error massage saying that 3c389.device can not be opened...

Well, for testing purpose I inserted the ethernet card into my PC, and here it works as it should. The guide in the 3c389 archive also suggest to check what cabeling type the ethernet card is set to. In my case it is set to RJ45 which is the kind of cables I use, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I downloaded approx. 10 MB of data without any problems when the card was connected to my PC, so the card most be in working order...What troubles me is that it doesn't work in my Amiga 1200.

Have I overlooked something? Or should I be afraid that the PCMCIA port of my Amiga is defective?

Mistory solved. It turned out that I had been softkicking the wrong Kickstart 3.1 image. I tried with OS3.0 and everything started working :-)
