Amiga 1200 Mouse Port issue *Updated*
« on: July 25, 2008, 09:25:28 PM »
Hi all, I have an amiga 1200, the mouse goes left to right, but not up and down (or Vice versa, been a while since I messed with it).  I was thinking about taking the pieces back out of the box to tinker with it, but last time I could never figure it out.  Any suggestions?  Mouse tests fine on A2000.  (Brand NEW Never used stock for sale a2000HD ;))

Yes, probably more properly described as 1200 mouse port issue.  Thanks!

Well, thanks for the great info!  I checked all the traces, the motherboard looks perfect.  Saw no signs of any burned trace / component.  The Mouse port is on a small "Card" or sorts, which plugs into the main motherboard through a connector.  I am wondering if this is my problem?  It felt kinda loose, like the pins were not tight when plugged in.  Ever seen problems with these?  I followed the traces, they pass through to the back of the motherboard, and from there go to lots of what looks like resistors, I could not find the 3 connection devices you mentioned.

Well, I found a bad component, I just figured out which wires were which, figured it had to be a problem on the Horizontal Pulse, and started tracing it back.  Had continuity all the way up to a small dark brown surface mount component.  It is labeled with an E and I belive the number is E356 or E366 hard to read for sure.  Either way, there were several of them on the board, and using an Digital Ohm Meter, they all had continuity across them except them EXCEPT the one on the H-Pulse line, and the mouse does not move left to right!  Funny thing is though, these only have 2 connections, not 3, as you mentioned, unless its possible it has a connection UNDERNEATH it.  Its a very small surface mount part, about the same size as all the rest.  Where the heck can I buy one of these?  And what exactly am I looking for?  Emi filter?  Is it a fuse?
