Also, I notice a lot of demo's are using ADPCM for their tracks, which apparently has a lot less processor overhead to play than mp3, but similar sound quality. File sizes are about double. You might want to convert some of your music to this for the experiment.
I can also provide a CLI-player for IMA adpcm files that works with Paula (and AHI as soon as I get some small bugs fixed). It should work perfectly on an 030 if you have enough memory, as it doesn't currently stream from disk.
