AmiBench closes
« on: February 06, 2003, 02:05:15 PM »
In a bit of a shock, Mark Wilson has chosen to close AmiBench.com.  AmiBench was a great place to buy and sell Amiga goods.  Apparently, even on his birthday, he was being continually harrassed by a few of the zealots of this community.

@MrZammler,

For much the same reason that I refuse to "give" Amiga.org to someone else when I get a bit depressed over the situation.  A lot of a person's soul and hard work go into building a site.  Each site has a "soul" of it's own and it would be incredibly hard to either walk away from it, or to hand it to someone that you did not trust 110%.

Ok. To say I'm shocked is a bit of an understatement.

My email has being going crazy, and so have all the Amiga news sites from what I've seen and heard.

Its sobering to see so many people are upset about what I posted on AmiBench.

I think I'm going to have to re-consider what I said. For the next couple of days the site will remain closed. Maybe permently I'm not sure. I dont know what else I can say. I have no intention of 'handing' over the site to anyone else to run because then its just not the same.

I've had many offers of help and support and my email is going crazy.

:-( bought my A3000 and some CD32 stuff from AmiBench adverts.  It was a wonderful alternative to the often ridiculous prices on eBay.

I'm sad to see this happen.  :-(

Mark, thank you for your Amiga "commmunity" efforts and have a nice birthday regardless of such behaviours coming from a few childish individuals!  :-)

Ok! ok! You can all stop sending me emails of support now!

I think that my email box may explodes under the extreme pressure!

I thought about what I'm going to do with AmiBench.

there is still some respect and milage in the Amiga Community I've thought that there's no better thing to do with the site other than to put it back 'Online'.

You only have yourselfs to thank seeing as you did such a splended thing in sending me so many (and I mean many messages of support.

Its an amazing feeling to see people come out and say things about AmiBench which made me realise that its still very well respected in Amiga circles even if I'm not!

I guess AmiBench is bigger than me. And who am I to turn it off?

Thanks everyone. You really have made my day!

 :-)

There are quite a few as$holes in the Amiga community if you ask me. Mark and Amibench are good for the Amiga, anyone who decides to disagree with that just wants to cause trouble imho.
