The Translation software is optimised for use with WindowsCE (i.e. other translation software is optimised for use with embedded Linux).

All software currently available for the AmigaDE is *NO* way tied to its underlying architecture or operating system. WindowsCE .NET simply is Microsoft's new name for their successor to the Windows CE 3.0 platform which includes .NET technology.

You can tell when a technology is going to take off when 'marketing speak' starts happening ;)

AmigaDE is an environment which as far as i know, can be hosted by different operating systems, or act as the operating system itself (which is achieved through using Virtual Processor technology from the Tao-Group).

For the AmigaDE Player (Amiga Anywhere) to run on a different platforms, the Virtual Processor technology needs to be ported to that platform (this is where the optomisation comes in), but in all cases, the AmigaDE Application will not know, or even require to know what platform it is running on (except for basic stuff such as, do i have a display device etc).

In 99.9999% of these different configurations, all programs written for the AmigaDE will run identically, without any change whatsoever.

Therefore a program written for AmigaDE will run identically on an AmigaDE Player (now called Amiga Anywhere) hosted on linux, windows, whatever, including Windows.NET ;)

The fact that the phrase 'optomised for .NET' popped up in the press release means that AmigaDE does what it does on every other platform (makes sure that the application runs in an identical manner, and to its best possible performance on that platform, windows, linux, whatever, including .NET).
