My favourite modes on the M1438S were Productivity/Multiscan (for word processing and other text reading tasks, due to its stable display), and the highest Super72 mode with lots of overscan for Workbench and other tasks requiring lots of screenspace.

The M1438S will handle all screenmodes bundled with your Workbench, except for the A2024 modes (which are hacked to only work with the 2024 screen). You can also download the HighGFX mode package from Aminet. I haven't managed to destroy the monitor by tweaking the screenmodes, and it has also worked with graphics card (although it's a waste of a monitor in that case).
