What's the best resolution LCD monitor for use with Indivision?
« on: December 06, 2008, 11:21:58 AM »
Hi again,

It's looking like I'll opt for an Indivision, so now I need to decide on what screen to buy.

Since it's supposed to work with any 'standard' LCD monitor I'm a bit spoilt for choice.

But I was wondering what is the best resolution/size screen to get to work comfortably with the Indivison?

I'm planning on a 4:3 ratio 17" or 19" screen, most of which have a native resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Most of the 15" screens are 1024 x 768...

Which is the better resolution to use?

Since the Amiga's screen resultions are less than the native screen res, they'll obviously be scaled on the LCD screen, so if I'm running PAL Hires-Laced (640x512) would that scale nicely on a 1280x1024 screen?

Cheers,

Mike.

Most only seem to go down to 60Hz refresh...

Would this cause problems with the display from the Indivision? (flickering, etc)

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Ratte,

Thanks for the 'hints'!

Does that mean you're working on a version of HighGFX that can do 1280x1024? :-)

Cheers,

Mike.

Does anyone know of a particular brand/model of LCD that will support 50Hz scanning?

Cheers,

@yaqube,

Thanks for that link - very handy! So the Minimig would have similar issues (with 50Hz refresh rates) as the Indivision.

@-D-,

The reason I'm looking at the Indivision, is that I really want an LCD display. I can stick with my NEC Multisync II if I want to use a CRT... :-)

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi,

After a bit of investigation, it seems like a lot of the (slightly older 4:3 ratio) Viewsonic LCD monitors do in fact support 50Hz vertical refresh rates, so maybe I'll keep my eyes open for one of them...

Cheers,

Mike.

Hmm... I have a late (Escom) A1200, which I guess would have a HP Lisa...

I thought you could put the indivision into any A1200, just requires a bit of filing on the socket on HP Lisas?

Cheers,

Mike.
