You may need to recompile your kernel to include firewire. Use "make menuconfig" before compiling to allow you to select which things you'd like as part of your kernel or as kernel modules or not at all.

FIREWIRE is selected.
Luckily for us Pegasos Users, we get three Firewire connectors already on our motherboards
