@Ivanhoe

The serial number you need is inside the cardboard jacket that came with the official pre-release CD.  Just flip the cover open.  Serial number is printed on a sticker above the Installation Instructions.

A few suggestions, since I don't know your situation.

If you are the original owner, and you registered OS4 pre-release in the past, you do not have to register OS4 Final separately.  It is an update of the pre-release, so it is already registered.

If you purchased the machine from someone else, they may still be the registered owner of the software.  Here are some instructions from Rogue (Hans-Jorg Frieden) on how to transfer the ownership of the software.

AmigaOS 4.0 license transfers

@Ivanhoe

You are very welcome.  Good luck to you.  My machine is a MicroA1 and I am very pleased with it so far.  I also have an A2000HD classic.

Some more info about the serial number ...

The cover for my CD looks like a little book with no pages inside.

When the book is closed, it has a large boing ball on front and back.  On the front it says AMIGA OS 4.0 Developer Pre-release.  On the back there is some copyright and trademark info.

When the book is open, the left side says "Developer Pre-release".  Below that is the white sticker with the serial number and below that are the Installation Instructions.  The CD is on the right side, held in place by two flaps.  The CD has boing ball colours and says AMIGA OS 4.0 Developer Pre-release.  There is also some copyright and trademark info.

The serial number is a combination of numbers and letters, divided into three sequences separated by dashes.
