I'm living in Grimstad myself so I know at least a few of his options.

If he is in the center of the town then there _is_ a cable co that has cable hookup. They seemed a bit slack so I passed them up.

I don't know if TeleNor Avidi (the cable part of The Dark Empire) is active around here and if they have cable modem access. I wouldn't be suprised if they did.

When I was shopping around (2 years in September?) NextGenTel wasn't available here. I think that has changed. They probably have the best offer all in all. They sell static IP too if you cough up another 99(?)NOK each month.

Myself, I have TeleNor both for hookup and services. There was no download limit when I got it, so I'm in the clear there...
As for stability, I think I've only had trouble once in 20 months (well, after I got hooked up properly...)

I'm typing this on my Amiga routed through a Red Hat pc box that is my home router.
The ADSL modem is an Alcatel "Speed Touch Home". I have 384/128.
