Hello

short answer . . .  nope :-(

Secondly its a 233 Mhz (but its not this the problem after all).

The problem, even if someone said that its possible (actually the board worked for some days or less)
is that you can't reworking a BGA CPU, on an already fitted CSPPC.

Even DCE, can't do it (or they prefer don't do it . . i don't know).

In few words . . . nada ;-)

Ciao

EDIT- and without speaking about desoldering the CPU by the MAC board!!! :-?

Other great problem is that the CSMKIII, lacks a lot of components used by the 604e.
(memory buffers, power regulation, and others)

Effy with all my respect . . . but desoldering/soldering a BGA component (Ball Grid Array) requires tools that you can't even imagine. (hot air reworking stations).

They haven't legs but small balls surface mounted under the CPU itself.

Take a look (carefully) to the posted picture and you will noticed that the CSMKIII lacks of a dozen of components too.

in even less words . . .  forget it :-)

Bye :-)

Effy .  . .nope.

With an already populated CSMKIII, even your friend can't do the job.

I'm doing repairs on one of my CSPPC and the thing that you want to do, is impossible.

EDIT- just for the sake of:

the components that lacks in the CSMKIII  are about 50

rayt

please . . . don't add confusion you too!

The PCB of the CSMKIII is the same of the CSPPC one . .  .the problem is another one.

You can't upgrade a CSMKIII to a CSPPC, period.

:-)

i've learned a thing during my life (not too short, unfortunately . .!) . .  .

everyday, i learn something new (its not a shame).

Don't beleive to people who claims of knowing everythings.

We have a way to call them, here in Italy but . .  . :-)

PS- not referred to you Effy nor others in this thread :-)
