Ummm, been in a large IT shop lately? Solaris and Sun hardware are still quite popular, especially for large DBMS installations (e.g. Oracle and Informix) and ERP solutions (e.g. PeopleSoft and SAP). There's something to be said for a proprietary OS running on proprietary hardware. Anyhow, I think OpenSolaris will mostly benefit the x86 crowd, which has been all but ignored by Sun in the past. (If you've ever run Solaris x86, you know what I'm talking about.) But most importantly, I got a free t-shirt.
