Can I use a USB joystick/mouse with Spider?

USB mice work fine with Poseidon's (the USB driver software used by the Spider) HID class. It allows you to program the function of extra buttons and take advantage of scroll wheel(s) too.

As far as I'm aware there is no support for USB joysticks.

Other types of USB device supported include:
Storage devices: card readers, ZIP drives, hard disks etc.
Printers: (require an Amiga driver such as TurboPrint).
Scanners: (require a scanner package with USB support such as fxScan or ScanQuix)
Keyboards: again with full programability via the HID class.
Modems: conforming to the CDC ACM standard.
Serial to USB adaptors

A full list is on Chris Hodges' website.

You do need to be careful you choose compatible devices with driver support. E3B have a useful list of tested devices on their website.
