Wasn't the SDK released in two (or more) different versions, one initial and one updated version later on (that required a signed NDA?).

You have never had to sign an NDA unless you wanted to receive SDK updates from our services site.

As far as the NDA goes - I don't think there is much chance of Amiga forcing people at this point to sign NDA's - plus I have legal title to the ones I have and I'm selling them at a good price.

You're quite mistaken, Rich.  Amiga does require an NDA in order for the owner of the SDK to download updates.  Until this changes, neither myself, Gary Peake nor any other Amiga support person will give the purchaser download access to updates without the signed NDA.

So, whether you or I or anyone else likes it or not, someone CAN buy these from you legally but they will not get the support they'll require without signing the NDA, until and unless policy changes.

And, btw, I'm just making sure your "customer" is well aware of the procedure.  Don't shoot the messenger.

@Marktime

Uhm..  Where did you read this?  It certainly wasn't in what I posted.

I did not say that an SDK update was required for the product to be used.

I said, Amiga requires no NDA to be signed UNLESS YOU WANT AN UPDATE (e.g. download a newer version than you have, if there is a newer version available).

I know the difference is pedantic, but what I said is correct. The original boxed SDK was (and for some, still is) indeed useful as amigadev.net is full of applications that were ported to it.  It isn't the "latest and greatest" but for those who don't want to sign an NDA (or even an SDA), it is still useful, although less than it would be with the NDA/SDA.

In any case, I am aware of personally of what (some) developers feel on the free SDK topic.   I agree that free and widespread would rock, but I do not make those decisions. Amiga has licensing fees to pay so, we cannot give away the SDK.  If we could, you can bet your hiney Gary and I would have made it available far and wide, long ago.

The future could change this and you could possibly see a free AmigaDE/-Anywhere SDK someday but I cannot promise this as you may or may not be aware, there are still a few hurdles to bypass until we get to that point.

@Cyberus

I am inclined to believe it would get a bid or two.   A friend of mine goes looking for these obscure items (for the shock value) and has found used underwear and all sorts of things on Ebay.

I'm sure Rich might be able to post some of the used snot rags he got from the cans of garbage he rummaged or bought too.  Some people around here might even bid, seeing it as an alternative to Bill's CEO card.  ;-)
