Help me fix my broken CD32 pad
« on: December 26, 2009, 12:02:36 PM »
Hello Amiga fans of the world.

I was playing Buggy Boy tonight when suddenly I could not accelerate anymore right in the middle of the game. I thought the game had a bug, but by trial and error I found out that "up" on the D-pad did not work anymore. Every other button on the CD32 joypad works, but not "up" on the D-pad anymore. Left, right and down works 100% on the D-pad

It was fully working before I was halfway in the race in Buggy Boy this night, how can the joypad break during gameplay? First time it has happen to me ever. And the CD32 pad is in mint condition as I bought it 100% new from old stock.

Man I need some help, what should I do now in order to fix it?

Ok, I will open it up and check the membrane. Its quite weird it stopped working right in the middle when I was playing.

Great joypad though! I will miss it if it wont work again.

I fixed it.

Dont ask me how, but I opened it up, rubbed a bit on the contact pieces, then I mounted it, launched Naughty Ones on my A1200 and "Up" worked fine!

There was nothing wrong visually inside it. I suspect maybe the cables running inside the 9-pin cable is a bit broken.
