What do you need to access a DVD drive on the Amiga?
« on: May 29, 2007, 07:47:43 PM »
Hi,

What do you need to run to be able to run a DVD drive with your Amiga.

I have a slim DVD/CDr connected to my A1200 with IDEsplitter and 3.5 harddrive but IDEfix 97 does not find anything on Buddha device. I have a harddrive on the other IDE port.

Should I run something else than IDEfix or is my DVD drive broken?

There is no way to select master/slave on it since it is a slim-DVD, I have an adapter on it to convert it to 40 pin IDE.

Perhaps I could try it out on a PC though, but now I know it should be found with IDEfix.

I have been researching this subject and it seems not all slim CD's are slaves. Some are set to cable select. You can mod one by shorting some pins on the 50 pin connector to make it master. Sadly I destroyed my slim DVD by doing so, it was a really tight space to solder. However I am going to get another one.
