Those things are useless, even on wintel boxes. Lowsy performance and limited resolution.

Not really, I've seen them in action and they are sluggish.. More or less like on Windows without accelerated display drivers or remote control.

It's not a bandwith issue, but the way those USB vga things work. They use a form of compression, and indeed only useful for slideshows or to extend your screen for more spreadsheets or whatever. Forget about having animations or movies on it.
