So... What's the current state of the Amiga?
« on: March 20, 2008, 03:48:34 PM »
I've not followed things for a while. The last time I was actively following things was when the Amiga One was in production and OS4 was in development. Then there was some kind of lawsuit and lots of gnashing of teeth and everything seemed to go to hell in a hand basket. Where do things stand now from a hardware and OS standpoint? Is Hyperion still actively developing OS4? Is someone at least trying to get hardware out there? Is anyone porting OS4 to the x86 platform (I know, that's akin to blasphemy, but the PPC is, for all intents and purposes, dead)?

As for what I've been doing in the interim, I've got a Linux box (been fiddling with Linux for about 10 years now), a Windows box (:shudder:) for gaming but it's serving mostly as a media server at the moment, and a MacBook (best of *nix coupled with a really nice UI). I still miss my Miggy, though. I do have a CD32 that's still up and running, though. So I'm not completely detached from the Amiga world.

Thanks,
Sam

Much like my A4000, it's currently sitting on a shelf, collecting dust while waiting for someone to have enough resources to repair it.

Nice. Thanks for the succinct update, guys. Exactly what I was looking for. I wish all of this stuff would get resolved more quickly.
