Networking with Mediator and Win XP
« on: January 19, 2004, 09:03:56 AM »
All,

Am looking for some practical advice on networking my Mediatored A1200 to my Win XP box.

Am totally new to this so I'd be grateful if someone could explain how to do this in words of one syllable :-D

So far I've got 10/100 Network cards in both machines, a patch cable, Miami DX on the Amiga side and of course XP Pro installed on the PC.

What other programs will I need in order to file share between the two?  I've accumulated so much stuff on the Amiga side and my ISP only seems to be able to talk to the PC...

Thanks for that guys.

Is Samba easy to use?  Can I access the PC's drives via Samba when using something like Directory Opus or something?

My XP machine is connected to the net via dailup, as I live out in the sticks and we're still using coke cans and bits of string for long distance communication :-D

Also, can I use an FTP solution on the XP box to access my Amiga drives?
