Oh Lordy, what now?
« on: November 06, 2006, 02:02:22 PM »
Ever had one of those weeks?

I had a job interview booked for today - my first interview in fact.

I made sure I swotted up on the company I was meant to see and also ensured I knew exactly where I was going.  I also took a few minutes to check the company brochures and list some question to ask...

Last night I'm ironing my interview suit when all of a sudden "bang!", my steam iron expires dramatically in my hand with a spark and a burning smell.  Dammit! I really can't afford to fork out for a new steam iron right now...

And then to cap it all off, I got to the railway station to pay for my ticket when lo and behold my bank card is missing from my wallet.  Now I've had a bank card for fifteen years and never had a problem before.  So why, oh why does the card decide to go AWOL today - a one in 5,478 chance....

Thanks speel, you're a true gent - you've cheered me up!

On the rare occasions where I've woken up next to a random, I've always been able to recall the sequence of events that led me to their boudoir in the first instance.

However, at some point the Katie Melua/Ronni Ancona (is it just me or is la Ancona damn lovely?) lookalike who'd been kind enough to take me home for the night is adbucted and then replaced with Cherie Blair.

The interview has been rescheduled for tomorrow, but I feel like a total gimp for having to ask to reschedule thanks to my own lack of organisation.

The Gods of Good Fortune seem to be taking much delight in bending over and flatulating in my face right now.  A few weeks back I was out on my bike and managed to find the only nail on a six feet wide track and trudge home in the only instance of torrential rain we had all summer.

Haha!  So he was the one who took advantage of your inebriated state and led you astray?  And you cooked him breakfast?

Indeed I wasn't last time I woke up next to Cherie Blair.  I think that something in the beer made me fall through a rip in space/time, on the occasions when I fell out of the pretty girl's bed and rematerialised next to the Hippocrocapig.

My condolences on your IT issues though, thanks for helping put stuff into perspective!

Glad it's not just me...

Nice one Cyberus, that's something I've never done!  Just how did you broach the subject with the girl you liked afterward?  Was the sister a carbon-copy? ;-)

Haha, well I suppose she would have found out sooner or later.

I've had a few months of singledom, but at the risk of sounding my age I want to give the old fashioned courting thing a try - rather than go for a couple of dates with someone, get drunk with them and blammo.  It's a little soulless, although quite satisfying in the short term.

I must be getting old!

Were you both clothed when you woke up?

I hope your mate is an understanding guy...

Well most of my male friends would be rather annoyed if one of their mates copped off with a younger sibling.

X-Ray

No, fortunately!

When I arrived I was ushered into reception where a bunch of twenty-nothings were "testiculating" (gesticulating wildly whilst jabbering manager-speak).  The firm smacked to me of the sort of place where staff turnover is high and people burn out quickly, so I decided it wasn't for me.

However, I've got an interview somewhere else next Wednesday...  Something about Wednesdays...

The scrapings from Blobrana & Bloodline's socks are reconstituted, put in a suit, taught the words "resource", "synergy", "reconcile", "touch-base" and "strategy" and given job descriptions.

Actually, has anyone ever played B*ll*cks Bingo?  It involves sitting in a meeting ticking off the above words as they are spoken and the first to get a full house must shout "B*ll*cks!".

Sorry, got to update y'all on my current employment situation and the general train wreck that best describes my life at the moment:

Got another interview next Wednesday, two in one day in fact.  I've waited five years for a job interview (after the one which got me the job I'm in which went along the lines of "like the CV, when can you start?") and three come along at once!

And a lovely lady has just emailed me her mobile number...!

I think I'll buy me a lottery ticket tonight.
