Valentines - Romance or Profiteering?
« on: February 10, 2005, 02:02:01 PM »
Newsflash:

PMC's ambition to be officially recognised as "The most unromantic man in Britain" took an serious downturn today when he was seen to walk into Colchester's Interflora in order to arrange for a bouquet to be sent to his girlfriend on Monday.  He is said to be in shock at having handed out £50.95...

"That's money I could have spent on new handlebars".

I think you'll find that those flowers will make the missus emulate handlebars very well ;-)

What, you mean I can bolt a set of brakes to her?

Thanks x-ray & Blob, you've numbed the wallet pain no end!

Georgina's never had flowers from me and although don't do the whole red roses thing, I wanted to do something out of the ordinary.  She's made me promise not to buy her chocolate and I'd feel tacky getting frillies etc so I thought I'd go with the time honoured favorite.

Blob,

Georgina wanted a bike for xmas, so I went out and bought her a Specialized Hardrock.  Somehow though I think she'd be most disappointed if I turned up at her doorstep with a box of chocs and set of Hope disc brakes (although if said lady did that for me I'd be overjoyed).

Anyway, you heard it here first folks, the way to win the affections of the charming la Blob is to buy her some bike stuff and chocs.

X-ray, I've a suspension fork and a set of disc specific wheels for sale at a very reasonable price.  You'll have to supply your own red bow I'm afraid.

x-ray...

Go for the Marzocchi forks and wheels dude...  Oh and don't forget those chocs.

On the other hand, teleporting to Pluto and bringing back some geology (assuming Pluto is more substantial than Ammonia and Methane, which makes a hell of a mess when it melts) might work?

What kind of supplier are you, if you don't even provide the bow? And are the wheels scented?

Haha!  No woman can resist the delicate scent of Marzocchi fork grease, but mine are augmented with the subtle bouquet of GT 85.

Oh jeez....

I thought you were all supposed to be making me feel better?

Maybe I ought to cancel the flowers and buy those Easton EA70 bars I had my eye on?

If I were St Valentine, I'd have come up with a day where we celebrate our love for our significant other by going out with one's peers and drinking, or better still we get the following day off work to recover.

I'm going to forward you my g/f's email address...

Those Titecs are mighty fine.

@X-ray

funnily enough I just received this email from Chain Reaction Cycles:

According to the link, about $120  :-P

Mate she's got to be worth it, any girl who can fix your bike for you is worth her weight in gold (or titanium).

I'm sure she's worth the Marzocchis and wheels too.
