My nominations:

Most posts?

It's a flip between Whabang and Blobrana.  Hell, let's just award something to the pair of you...  You've both made me laugh my socks off and have been an education too.

Best Avatar?

Karlos.  The anvil/poster/sock one still has me chuckling.  Blob's Spitfire avatar was good.

Most impressive picture?

X-ray and his gatling gun.  I want one of those bolted to the front of my car, together with a gunsight on the dashboard...

Scariest Post?

Hmm, there's many.  I think Bloodline's frank admission about his sox life was quite scary, although Blob's contribution to my "Confidence" thread was a prophecy that thankfully did not come to pass.  The political ones are usually scary in some form or another but for slightly more serious reasons.

Best biking related avatar?

Me.

What? You mean it is not some kind of alien insect? :-D (Took me a couple of weeks to figure out what it was. Had to think back to my Schwinn 10 speed I had 25 years ago.)

Hehe!  I think it's rather cool.  I saw one in the bike shop and had to have a pair fitted to my new MTB.  They're made of machined alloy and have little fluid reservoirs mounted next to the brake levers...

Do you do any serious distance biking?  Or are you one of those RICH people that can afford fritter away money on high quality inanities? :-)

Nope am by no means rich!

I do cover a fair distance, but when you're hurtling down the side of a mountain and the terrain is wet / gritty then rim brakes tend to be completely ineffective in comparison.

If you do not mind my asking, what kind of bike do you have?  I grew up with Schwinns and I loved them.  I do not currently have a bike but have been considering getting a good mountain bike.  Can you make any suggestions?

Hehe, of course not!

I've a 2004 Specialized Enduro, which is a much better bike than I'll ever be a rider.  The Enduro features 5 inches of suspension travel at either end, four pot hydraulic disk brakes, 27 gears and is made out of aluminium.

As for a good MTB, you can't go wrong with Specialized.  The Hardrock is entry level and although it's rather brutal is an excellent bike.  The Rockhopper is next up and is a much more comfortable machine.
