the x-surf is pretty much the only one available these days, and will run ethernet at 10mb/s which is fine for most amiga networky kinda stuff.

OS2.x should be pretty much fine for most network applications on the amiga side, but 3.x is the environment i've had most expirience so can't really comment on anything else, just most software seems 2.x/3.x compatable.

3.9 has a ...erm... "free" (dubious license) version of Genesis which is a very easy to install, configure and setup TCP/IP stack which gets you connected to the network (compared to amitcp - on which it is based). it will work with 3.0/3.1 but you need to download the version for those OS versions, and just use the keyfile off the 3.9 CD.
plus 3.9 has a basic web browser, and email program, to get you going.

if you want to mount "network shares" off your windows machine, you can use SMBFS off of aminet.net, or go the whole hog and install samba on your amiga to mount and share out windows compatable network shares from your amiga, and use a web browser to administer those amiga shares from any machine on the network.

A500, A600, A1200x3, A2000, A3000, A4000 & a CD32.
and probably just like the rest of you, crates full of related "treasure" for the above XD
