Yep, it does. Unless you are completely arrogant and holding your hands over your ears and shouting lalalalalalalala at the top of your voice you must have heard the comments - and its not just "bitter people".

Brought it upon themselves.

Yeah, right. Nice to see Amiga.org moderators occupy the moral highground.

Of course, and mayhaps they have a point. I have been strident in my comments about #### in the past and will continue in the future.

At least I can type in:

amiga.org
morphos
etc

....without it blanking it out.

Issues with moderation we can deal with, individually.

@redrumloa

Right, but what I am pointing at is that it doesn't exactly single Amiga.org out as being the one that has had the best reaction to past disputes :-) Hence my moral highground point. If you take away the reasons people slate Amiga.org on fora ( or make it plainer that they are wrong through actions ) expect the whinging to dissipate.

about people not supporting amiga IMO... thats sad...but true... if you want this site to support amiga verbatim

The site should not have a policy to support either one. It should merely moderate fairly at all times to ensure reasonable behaviour during debates and discussions.

you want this site to support amiga verbatim your gonna need to get up alot of money, buy it, start kicking and banning people left and right...

Why should anyone have to buy it to get fairer moderation or expect civilised behavior from its participants? When Amiga Inc hosted it, people were flaming Amiga Inc, now Genesi host it they are seen as great saviours(?). If either Genesi or Amiga Inc have or had placed undue pressure on the moderators to adopt one political persuasion over the other that is totally unnacceptable.

We all now know what has been undergoing for a while now, that has resulted in Wayne being employed at Genesi but Wayne did the wise thing - he stepped down as webmaster recognising there is a difference between actual and percieved reality. He could have stayed on and moderated fairly in my view - not because all his decisions were fair but you could explain to him how they appeared to others and he would listen and if he agreed - retract. But in others view, he was hopelessly compromised.

The only problem that most people worth listening to have with amiga.org is that it is claimed that flamebait designed to rile up "Red Camp" is not moderated whereas flamebait designed to rile up "Blue Camp" is.

Now I happen to see a significant bias in some moderators, I see some other moderators who could be biased but are able to put the gadget they own or the personal relationships to one side, and I see some other moderators whom you never really get to see what motivates them - they just moderate. I even see some moderators joining in the "fun" provoking "Red Camp" users. Given moderators should in my view set an example I have written many PMs only to delete it at the last minute thinking "what the hell, there are better things to do in life than be here".

Regardless of this being true or not many "Red Camp" users no longer frequent this site frankly because they are fed up with it. We are talking significant numbers.

Now either Amiga.org is the place where blue and red camps can have a meeting of minds and get on constructively or it is seen as the place where if you want to talk about OS4 or A1 you have to wade through pages of jeering trolls and MorphOS/Pegasos ads from the same very small ( about 5 nicknames ) number of activist users.

In the main, it seems to me that the the red camp is far less militant and respectful these days towards Genesi and MorphOS and its userbase. We are constructing an uneasy peace on the channels and the foras - detente is a better word.

Now we can change the way this website is percieved either through democratic means by the members generally behaving respectful towards each other and their choices - this does not require the moderators to lift a finger - because this is the problem or we can ask the moderators to do tighter and "fairer" moderation ( e.g. as to how it is percieved by approximately half of its page hits ).

But you are right, it is the users on this site that have given it a bad reputation, democratically, and some inaction on the part of certain moderation staff has compounded it to make it look official policy. Thats what checks and balances are supposed to deal with. I suggest that even the moderators have recognised this because I see more intervention over the last month than ever before.

Im not coming down saying either is right or wrong in this, Im telling you how I see it.

But this debacle over banning "amigaworld.net" keywords just made Amiga.org look like a poorly behaved child.

Sorry for continuing to hijack this thread, but there were several responses on here I felt deserved some explanation and clarification.

Regards

Dave.

the moderators are people to, some of them have very solid reasons for not trusting amiga.inc and moderating away news items that are deemed stupid by the majority (democracy in action) of people here... I pretty much dont see any bias in moderators... can you give some examples of what they have done that went against the majority of users here? what exactly did they do?... I mean... you gotta have some irrefutable examples of obvious bias.

I agree with pretty much everything you say but if we are to continue to discuss this, and Im sure an opportunity to explore it further will come up, we need to do it away from this thread in Talkabout or something.
