Its price is high because of the relatively small production run.
What risks are there that you are bothered about? Even if the Amiga market bombs the Linux market is still there ( aside from SCOs attempt to destroy it ). I think it is a better plan than when I bought my first Amiga, that had no certain future cos everyone was buying C64s, Atari STs and Spectrums.
Price? Still cheaper than traditional big box Amigas (its a "big box Amiga" ) but obviously more expensive than a PC for little value add.
