Laptop and Teleworking For Avoiding Pandemic
« on: November 03, 2005, 12:01:34 PM »
Because of threat of Flu Pandemic in the near future, major companies in Singapore, HK, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia had provided Windows/Linux Laptops or Powerbook for employees and test teleworking / working from home.

In Pandemic/state of emergency, there may be a curfew / restriction on people movement/closing of public transport, schools, offices.

Can this idea help reduce the pandemic and guarantee continous operation of the companies during the emergency?

From GlobeandMail:

The old handle "road warrior" takes on literal meaning in a world of tsunamis, terrorist bombs, mutant viruses, civil unrest and random assaults in increasingly high-risk destinations. If you'd rather hide under the bed and conduct your dealings on a laptop, nobody would bat an eyelid.
Providing security for itinerant employees has emerged as a priority for companies doing business in foreign destinations and as an independent growth industry.

Several months ago Dr Garry Hare, the former CEO of Amiga Inc had mentioned Amiga laptop on the IRC chat.

Where is the new AmigaOS 4 laptop?
What is the price of the new AmigaOS 4 laptop?
Does the laptop support Linux PowerPC or MacOnLinux?

Is this project cancelled after Dr Garry Hare resigned from Amiga Inc?
